Does blood pressure cuff size matter?
When taking a blood pressure reading, it is important that you have the right size cuff for your patient. If the cuff is not on the arm properly, or is too large or too small, the reading might be inaccurate. It has to fit just right. The inflation bladder, located in the inside of the cuff should fit 80% of the way around the upper arm and cover about 2/3 the distance between the elbow and shoulder. This will provide uniform compression in the correct area of the arm, and therefore yeild a more accurate reading. What makes ADC's Adcuffs unique is the size marking system that is on each cuff to prevent mis-cuffing, as well as the many different sizes they offer. Each of your patients can get the quality, individualized care they need.
